I thought I'd make a post about where the meta is right now and where we should progress.
As of now, Red Riding Hood dominates. While I disagree with the idea that everyone has of "Oh she's broken and takes no skill and should be banned blahblahblah", I do agree that she currently beats the entire cast and could use toning down. Even without the infinite, she is an incredible force that can be difficult to deal with. While I already have an idea of how to beat her (which I will explain in another thread), we all need to work together to figure out her weaknesses and exploit them. Her ability to zone with projectiles better than any other character while moving makes her deadly, and what makes her a notch above the rest is upon landing a projectile, it leads into a huge conversion that puts you at a big disadvantage. On top of that, she has one of the best Slams among the cast.
Other dominating characters are Gingerbread Man and The Black Knight.
Gingy possesses an unrivaled crumpet dash and an air grab that is unbelievably large. He's also a very small and fast target that can be very difficult to pin down, with one of the best Slams. This gives him some of the best neutral options and approaches in the game. He thrives off of linking crumpet dashes into grabs, and getting quick aerial attacks while you're on the ground.
TBK, while a slow and large target, can dish out damage harder than anyone in the cast very easily. His attacks deal huge amounts of damage, and a grab confirms into all of his best ones, including his anti air. His anti air attack is the best in the game, with a huge instant hitbox that fills almost a third of his Slam meter. Throwing them against the wall allows him to confirm into his anti air TWICE, or his charged special if he wants a less risky option. Now, with the discovery of the Swooce, his issue of mobility is a lot less severe.
The other strong characters, which I will not go into detail about, are Dronkey, Prince Charming, Puss in Boots, and Anthrax.
Matches are currently heavily based on matchup knowledge, which will be remedied when we have a larger player base with more frequent tournaments. Until then, our best move is to explore weaknesses of the top tiers, and expand our knowledge on the rest of the cast. The roster is still severely underexplored, and lots of options/techs are waiting to be found, so get to work you guys.
