We had a lower turnout than I expected, only four entrants. We had around 8-10 people RSVP but a couple of them got called into work and one of them has been home sick all weekend, and was also going to be the driver for a couple of other entrants. However, the players we had were all very solid. I don't think the tournament could have been much more stacked even if more people came considering the caliber of the people that were there. Singles was played Round Robin and since we only had two doubles teams, we just played a Best of Three. With all that said, I expect to have more entrants at our future tournaments.
The results:
Singles
1. m0th64
2. Gl1tchy
3. Ebola
4. CttL
Doubles
1. m0th64/Gl1tchy &
2. Ebola/CttL &
I wasn't feeling super confident going into this tournament. People who know me know that I'm a horribly inconsistent player, largely because I have chronic illnesses that prevent me from playing to my full potential much of the time. (In fact, the reason I picked up Shrek Super Slam in the first place was in part because I was depressed with how much my body was holding me back in Smash) I've also been training with Gl1tchy and Ebola for a pretty long time and I know both of them have the skill to beat me if I'm not playing on point. I clutched it out, though. Gl1tchy and I actually got a 10-stock in game one of our doubles set, if memory serves, because it turns out Robin Hood and Puss actually make a really good doubles team. Game two I went Luna and it was closer.
Gl1tchy has been improving a lot lately. Our set was actually super hype. Even though I bodied him game one, game two was almost completely even. I expect he would have placed second no matter how many entrants we had at this event. I'd say he's definitely number two in the region right now.
Until the next event!
