I was messing around with HnP Wolf earlier and I figured out that shield canceling an air dash and then immediately grabbing causes the momentum of the dash to transfer into the grab animation. This causes the character to slide forward while grabbing, giving a significant boost to the rang of the attack and allowing safe grab approaches.
I haven't tested the tech on all characters yet but I will do that when I have time. It appears to only work for some characters, as I was unable to perform the tech with RRH.

This is just a shield drop > grab, it isn't really anything new. You're actually very close to finding something else that I've been keeping a secret for a long time. I've been waiting 'til after Slam in the Swamp to reveal it.

I've been running tests with it the last few days and it's definitely something different from a standard shield drop grab. Only about half the cast can actually do it, but for the ones who can, it give them a grab that takes up almost half a stage length.

Hmm, I'll have to test it.

Oh, update on this. I found what causes the increased grab range when viewing hitboxes. It's a lot simpler than your method. I'll make a video/thread explaining it soon.
